On January 8th, 2013, OSU Extension and the City and County of Van Wert proudly announced northwest Ohio native Cynthia Leis as the new Economic Development Director and Community Development Educator for Van Wert County.

Cynthia spent 17 years working with Ohio manufacturers through her role as senior business consultant for the Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET) based in Cleveland and Toledo, Ohio and the last two years as a professor in the College of Business at the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) in Lima, Ohio.
Over the past two decades, she has collaborated with regional and county economic development directors, small business development centers, Ohio Department of Development agencies and regional universities and community colleges to promote retention and growth among the manufacturing community. Prior to her work with MAGNET and the Edison Technology Center & Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) she spent 10 years with General Dynamics Land Systems Division as a Manufacturing Program Manager. Cynthia is a graduate of Bluffton University and has earned her MBA at Tiffin University. Cynthia and her husband Mike, reside in Delphos, Ohio with their three children.
